UNDER THE RAVENS WINGS 2007 REVIEW

STARRNG: KIMBERLY AMATO, COY DELUCA, JESSICA PALETTE, KAMILLA SOIE SADEKOVA AND A CAMEO BY SUSAN ADRIENSEN HERSELF!
RATED-UNRATED
MINUTES-100 MINUTES
Oh my- this film hit home in a few ways- a movie of interviews so to speak- a video document of a trio of young girls who found the path to true evil. The path to committing the evilest of all acts. MURDER! Why do I say the most evil act?? Life is sacred- life is revered- life is “holy” - to snuff it without care, without any scruples, to take that innocent life- is vile and the very heart of evil.
Manipulation! Now this is about as evil as murder- to make a person feel so powerless that they will do anything that is asked by the Manipulator. WITHOUT QUESTION!
Evil and manipulation- what a dangerous combination. So it shall be , being under Ravens Wing. The mere though of questioning is asking for a guilt laden diatribe of how there’s should be NO questions-now that is FEAR of the kind that leads to unspeakable acts and complete submission.
Why this hits home- there are so many people who flirt with the line of morality and immorality- and we have all met someone like that! The selfish, the greedy, the megalomaniacs of this world. The power whores, the people who speak for you with out your true thoughts being spoke.
Raven- its interesting how a Raven in so many mythologies can be either a warning , an omen, a respected creature for the power it has (not unlike how the Hindu think of the Cobra) and thus work in communal ways because it is nature-
Raven- amazingly portrayed by Kimberly Amato- a wonderful young actress, a wonderful person- who is so different then anything raven could be or desire to be. She truly had to act to be this evil, corrupter of the innocent. She is real- she lives in this world; she is someone we have met. She is the person that gives you bad vibes- the girl that not just your mother but your friends alike warned you off. Is she beautiful , yes- is she enticing perhaps, yes, is she “eye candy” for the guys- yes- for the girls- yes. Does she give a shit? NO! She uses her charisma to enthrall to impressionable, angry, depressed young girls- into a world as innocent as the Goth world. The world that is all black clothes, dark dreary music. Nothing bad in itself- actually a neat scene- but the nightmares some bands, some books, some Goths speak of, are real and true to Raven. So true- she has left this planet called sanity. She has a desire to commit the ultimate deed of evil and “transcend” an innocent person to the 1st dimension- because she loves them and they don’t deserve to live this world of hate and misery.
The young gals, being interviewed by a young man who is very curious about the story that they may have committed murder - are seeing that Raven may not be quite right. They are seeing that they may not be able to live a life of this darkness. One who tries hard to be the bad girl, the one that if she found courage in herself would run away from it- far away! Yet she has Ravens claws dug deep within her psyche and soul she cannot run away. She is powerless and afraid- the two things Raven is so good at making one feel. The other- she is rebelling- and fighting society and fighting herself.
The interviewer- seriously wants to know- also becomes enticed by the rebellious girls , and sees that they are more then innocents that have been drawn to darkness but also someone that he may entice into his own sexual delusions. He is wrapped up into understanding the mind of evil that Raven embodies - that engrosses him so much that he fears his own life may be in danger.
The victim- the young man- the prey from the bar- the one who was trying to get back on his feet winds up flat on his back- with promises of a night of sex with 3 gorgeous women- a fantasy he has only dreamt of- now not only on his back ready for sex- but vulnerable beyond word- then the crushing blow- then the life is whisked away into a vapor. He never knew what hit him.
The psychotic Raven, the two girls she found open to anything, now have no life left. This is the sadness of the story- this is the tragic ending of a life that has lost itself - this is the living that is NOT living. This is the evil that Raven is.
This is the film- this is the greatness this is- to see the beginning to the end- to see the power one has over another. To see the twisted mind at work. This is a piece of film that needs to be seen- to see how people can be, yes even in real life. The film to see that you NEVER turn yourself over completely to a person- your soul, your mind- your will and desire, your conscience.
Watch and see, are you caught in “Ravens” claws- and now being sheltered by her wings? Do you still own yourself- do you still have the power in your own life to see the reality of things- and not fall to someone delusions?

HEADCASE 2007 REVIEW
HEADCASE (2007)
DIRECTOR- ANTHONY SPADACCINI

Okay - now I had heard nothing on this film before I received it, just knew the basics, the story of a couple of serial killers , a psuedo documentary! I was not sure what to expect otherwise. I thought it would be interesting , and in the style of Grave Encounters or even like a Paranormal Activity type thing. Well, I was wrong.
“Use the downstairs bathroom”
I would think, okay , fine- gotta take a shower somewhere. Not in this case- this is where the next innocent victim discovers the afterlife.
“maybe add a few pictures on the walls”
Scene- the Kill Room- the place where folks meet the infamous Grim Reaper. A place that pictures could make more serene- more calming! Not this time , the killer wants to make the victim feel every ounce of pain, have NO peace or calm as they are tortured and killed!
Have I got your interest yet??? Good !! Wayne and Andrea Montgomery are two suburban folks. Wayne has the preppie look of khakis ,socks and tennis shoes . Andrea just the typical suburban style. They have lived outside the city for quite sometime- very nice people, the “ could you water my plants and feed my dog while I am gone for a week” folks. Little do you know- they are vicious killers- and they love to lure innocent folks to their home and have a glass of home made ginger ale, and then tortured and killed.
This pseudo documentary does something very unique , Wayne loves to film his kills ,heck even his prey as he stalks them. This isn’t the shocking part- this film is made up from their own home videos- taken as they eat , talk with their kids, ride in car, stalk , incapacitate ,torture and kill. He is so normal when he meets folks, and sways them into coming with him because he will help them with what ever their situation is . I would find him sincere and helpful also- then next thing you know I would have a cheese grader against my family jewels and heck even a nail gun against my temple! Tortured , prolong torture to the point you wish you would just die. This creepy film is so real, I can only imagine a real couple of sadistic psychos- discussing very candidly and with such calm about what cheese grader side he wants to use on a young mans genitals ,what effect each side would have on the flesh , would it clog the grader or the “meat “ just fall off the grader. Oh and may I add- that if he doesn’t like the way one side works, he can try the other on another guy latter and compare the wounds and flesh. All with the calm and peaceful demeanor of Pat Sajack, so peaceful , so inquisitive and so “youth group minister “ like.
The filming is brillant- makes it so real in the way the cameras would be if it was REAL homemade video. In colour and some goes kinda black and white- shakey but not like in Blair Witch , and it engrosses you to the fullest extent! One scene- my wife came in and saw it and wondered where I got this REAL footage- thought it was something off of Forensic Files or something - it really looks that real!
This film is touted on the cover as brutal , one of the most disturbing , instant classic , very effective , terrifying to a level that most indie horror only dream of achieving. Would I agree - yes!!! I 100% agree. I say this because of the ‘real” feel it gives that makes it so disturbing because you feel like your watching real found tapes of real killers. They psychotic lives they live.
I was so convinced by the acting also , Paul and Barbara , how they did this , I don’t know. I would have nightmares after filming this . How they pulled off such genuine acting to the point it did NOT appear as acting-it appeared they really were killers. Just thinking about it creeps me out. This puts my mind in position to think of questions to ask them about this experience in doing this film. How did it effect them or did it ??? All I can say is that they nailed it. They convinced me , they scared my wife to point she knew it was real footage.
I don’t know what else to say- except this- be prepared to be shocked , and disturbed , but it is worth a watch. No , its not gorey , has some blood but not hardcore gore, not a lot of swearing , no nudity that I can recall. The fear factor comes in the form of the character of evil and the convincing portrayal the stars did in this film. Will I watch it again- yes- but not over and over because it is so real- but when I know I can handle it again- I will gladly watch again .
The end result of believing thier trust-
There are sick people in this world- and this helps us to remember, you cant always judge a book by its cover- becasue this suburban family- the cookie cutter appearance of white bread conservative family- may not be that- instead- they are monsters. They dont- they didnt hide under your bed- they loved next door, they lended you a hammer if you needed it. You gave them flour when they asked to borrow the cup for some holiday baking. While all along, the dude that looks like Manson down the street gets all the stink eye- gets all the criticism- little did you know that the sweet couple down the street were killing innocence-
this is one other thing that makes this an amazing film- and also makes it creepy-
and also makes it a goldmine of classic horror- the scary calm and cool , sweet ,kind, ever willing help monsters that share our communities!

JG- SO MY FRIEND- HOW DID YOU START BELA’S ???? WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO DO THE COLLECTIBLES AND FILMS???
SAJ - In 2009 I had been waiting tables and bar-tending for almost 15 years and was becoming tired. Reagan, my youngest, had just turned two and it seemed like I was just working to pay for gas and daycare. So, I decided to quit and stay at home. My husband and I had been collecting VHS, DVDs and film collectibles for years and were beginning to have duplicates. Not a bad problem to have, but with two children and living in an apartment at the time, we needed room. We were also thinking of moving back to my hometown around this time, so we started to sort through everything and WOW!! We ended up with a closet full of DVDs, magazines, books and figures that we didn't need. Since I had the time now, I opened an EBay and Half.Com account and began listing items. People started buying and I found myself buying and looking for items to sell. My plan for Bela's was once we moved to begin moving toward the goal of a physical location verses online. In March of this year, a friend of mine was opening an antique/second hand shop and had spaces for rent. The price was right and the space was perfect, so I shut down the online sales and moved all of my inventory into Fortunate Finds. This has been perfect for me to learn the ups and downs of the retail business. I would still love to have my very own shop and will. It's definitely a work in progress.
JG- WHAT IS YOUR FAV HORROR MOVIE AND WHY?
SAJ - Motel Hell hands down! I know it's more of a horror-comedy and it may not have the best directing or acting, but what a fun film! Growing up, we would stay at motels similar to Motel Hell(o) and stop a local and road side stores. Jerky has always been a staple road trip snack in my family. Needless to say, after I saw watched Motel Hell for the first time at the age of 8 or 9, I started to question my parents choices of accommodations on trips....AND the jerky! Plus- Rory Calhoun, Wolfman Jack and John Ratzenberger (Cliff from Cheers), how could you go wrong? (LOL- Don't answer that!)
JG - WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE AS A REMAKE , AS LONG AS IT IS RESPECTFUL TO THE ORIGINAL??
SAJ- John Carpenter's The Thing is a prime example of a wonderful remake. I just wish, as you put it, the industry would be more respectful to the originals when "re-envisioning" and re-making. Martin (1976) would be an amazing remake, if done right. I love the original and think that it would update well and, as with all remakes, it would draw attention to this sometimes forgotten Romero classic.
JG- DO YOU EVER GET OUT TO CONVENTIONS WITH YOUR GOODIES??
SAJ -Maybe someday we will, but I really enjoy going to conventions and not working a booth or table. Although I do buy for Bela's at conventions.
JG -IF YOU WERE NOT DOING THIS- BELA’S - WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM JOB??
SAJ -I would love to buy and renovate and old theater. Imagine the possibilities!
JG - WHAT ARE YOU PRIDE AND JOYS AS FAR AS YOUR MEMORABILIA IS CONCERNED?? YOUR PRIZED GOODS??
SAJ -That's a tough one! As far as horror goes, I have the original Nightmare on Elm Street 2 -Freddy stand up, an original 1976 King Kong poster, a Dracula A.D. 1972 poster signed by Caroline Munro and given to me by her for my 35th birthday and a trowel necklace made by Kyra Schon (Karen Cooper in 1968's Night of the Living Dead), to name a few. Now, my Rocky Horror Show/The Rocky Horror Picture Show collection is my baby. I have been collecting anything and everything Rocky since the late 80's. I own posters, albums, tickets, scripts, etc., from all across the world. I also have a Meat Loaf album signed by the late Chris Farley, "From Meat Loaf.....sort of!" (remember his stint as Meat Loaf on SNL?)
JG -SO I DO SEE , THAT IT APPEARS THAT YOUR HUBBY IS QUITE THE HORROR FIEND ALSO ? AM I CORRECT IN THAT ASSUMPTION?? WHATS YOUR FAVORITE “DATE NIGHT” HORROR FILM?? IS THERE A “ITS OUR MOVIE” FILM , WHAT ABOUT SONG?? I KNOW YOU LIKE ALICE COOPER - IS THERE AN AC SONG THAT IS “YOUR SONG” ?? CHEESY- I KNOW- LOL !
SAJ -First, thank you for asking about my hubby. And yes he is a horror fiend as well. He is a chef by day and a horror writer by night. Bruce has been writing for Classic-Horror.Com for almost two years now. I enjoy watching him tick when it comes to the genre. He is always reading, watching and researching. I learn from him every day. He also supports me and my crazy ideas and helps me execute them. I couldn't ask for a better husband, father or friend.
Our favorite date night film and "our film", is The Fog (1980).
We really don't have a "song", but we both are huge Alice fans!! One of the first presents Bruce ever bought me was an Alice Cooper doll. We are, however, divided on Alice. Bruce really only likes his older stuff, but I love it all! It's ALICE!
JG -NOW - KIDS?? DO YOU HAVE ANY?? IF SO- ARE THEY HORROR BUFFS ALSO- OR IS THAT JUST THE “WEIRD STUFF MY FOLKS ARE INTO “ THING??
SAJ -Bruce and I have two daughters. Anna is 12 and Reagan is 4. They love horror! Especially the Universal monsters. Anna's favorite is the Creature and Reagan loves the Wolfman. And they both are huge fans of the original Night of the Living Dead. We recently took them to their first convention, Monster Bash, and they are addicted. Anna is already saving up money for the next one in June. We have made Monster Bash our family vacation and my parents, brother in-law and nephew even go with us. It's pretty cool to have three generations of horror fans in the family. It still blows my mind when I am watching an old film with my dad and he remembers seeing it as a kid in the theater.
JG -THIS IS A PLACE FOR YOU TO PLUG BELAS AND YOUR PROJECTS WHAT EVER THEY MAY BE ! IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT YOU WANNA SHARE OR TELL THAT I HAVE FORGOT TO ASK !
SAJ -2012 is going to be a busy one...In February, I will be hosting a Women In Horror Month event (details to be announced soon). I am also working on a zombie walk and having a few classic horror film screenings. In October, I host the Rocky Horror Picture Show for Carnegie Hall, Lewisburg, WV and we will be having our 2nd Annual Zombie Prom on Halloween Night at the Irish Pub.
And I just joined our local roller derby team, the Greenbrier Roller Vixens, so I am concentrating on passing my skills tests so I can skate in a bout. Stay tuned for that one! LOL
A big thank you for this interview, John! It has been a pleasure. :)
AND NOW- HERE YOU- SHEILAS WONDERFUL QUESTIONS FOR ME-
SAJ -John Ginder is a husband, father, freelance writer and horror enthusiast. In August of 2011, he unleashed his blog, Lost in the 80's, and it has been full speed ahead since for him. Lost in the 80's is filled with unique interviews, reviews of conventions, films, music....you name it, and it's in there.
In the fall of this year, John approached me about doing an interview and while bouncing around ideas, I thought- "I should interview John!" So without further ado, here is the man behind Lost in the 80's-John Grinder! I hope you enjoy!
SAJ -We will start off with an easy one, when were you bitten by the horror bug?
JG -When I was a little boy- I loved old monster movies. The ones that stick out are War of The Gargantuas, some Godzilla, loved Wolfman and then I saw Hammer horror stuff- which lead me to watch even more and two of most favorites after I was sucked in was Lemora the Lady Dracula and Vampire Circus. It solidified when I was in high school , after years of watching horror and scifi - I got hooked with Slasher films and loved and still do Return of the Living Dead ( to which has an AWESOME soundtrack that I listen to a lot even now!!)
SAJ -In an early blog post of yours, you talk about leaving the safety of "non writing John".
Describe "non writing John".
JG- Well , I have always been the “behind the scenes dude, or the listener ‘ watcher. I have always felt , and still do- that if you’re a musician , why write music for the world to hear if no one listens and appreciates it. One cant entertain if no one is meant to be entertained by it. So- I love listening to music, all kinds, and I love to watch my movies , which is also very eclectic, but I do have my favorites! So- the whole “non writing John: thing is this- I always sat back and listened, watched, and read- and I knew I had knowledge and something to offer- so I went out of my comfort zone to start my rambling in writing about my loves in music and movies. I love listening to great music- creative music , not this prefab studio driven crap out there today- but music where the folks actually play the instruments (live and in studio , electronic or non electronic). I was always the “appreciator” and not the “spread the word and tell about “ guy!
And what about "writing John"? And how did the Soska sisters encourage your writing?
JG-writing John , hmmm. I love writing about the films, I don’t not claim to be good at it, not major mag material, but I am passionate about it and I can always guarantee I speak from my heart . I have always tended to be very positive- and try to see benefit (even if I have to dig deep to find it) in all film I write about or music I listen to. Yes, tough with stuff like Hostel or even the band Slayer- but the sheer genius of it is beautiful. So- I do my best- and struggle at times with finding words- to come out of my comfort zone to tell how a film hit me, or to find questions for folks that aren’t being asked- because the folks (actors and musicians are folks just like you and me).
The Soskas- well- I am very grateful for them . I met them on Facebook, had no idea who the hell they were, what they did, just saw them as fan girl horror nerds like me who worked in the films also. As time went- I saw more and more how passionate they were to do what they WANTED to do. The whole follow your dream and do it- and not to let anyone get in your way of achieving your dreams. It really hit me, my knowledge and passion for music and films, why couldn’t I talk about them , write about them. My grammar is wrong at times, I ramble, I don’t get to a point most of time, -that is why I never did. The Soskas, Jen and Sylvia, and I chatted from time to time- and they said a few things about “just do it”- and it finally broke my resistance. I did it- I wrote - and my first review was okay- and my first comment shot it to hell ( said all I did was kiss ass, and that I wrote terrible and that they would never read anything I write again)- a friend stepped in and told me I did great and even told the dude “its his first ever review- back the ‘f’ off, his opinions is just that- and if he didn’t like it then don’t read!”. That was great to hear also- and I sent Jen and Sylvia links to my interviews and reviews as I did ( and still do) them and they always gave me feedback! They really supported me and encouraged me- even when my confidence and desire in the horror community went south (a whole other topic)- and now- I am loving it , at my pace and at my time!
SAJ -Recently you and I had talked about family. What did your family think when you decided to write?
JG- the kids just know its something I do and like, but wifey, My Life, My Belle- she supported me- and said if I am happy doing it- to do it!
SAJ -What inspired the name of your blog, "Lost in the 80's"?
JG- I am the biggest 80s nerd there is- love the 80’s, I get snobby about the 80’s, and I am lost in it- I have taken the stroll down 80s memory lane so much- I think I never came back!
SAJ -Can you tell a little bit about what is in store for "Lost in the 80's" followers in 2012?
JG- more and more interviews and reviews- maybe some “on the street interviews’ ,you know- fanboy and fangirl chats about their thoughts on the scenes and music. Maybe some duo interviews like this and reviews- a Siskel and Ebert on films! Are you interested???
****AND NOW FOR MY VERY RANDOM QUESTIONS****
SAJ -With the holiday's just around the corner, what are your top 3 horror films to watch around this time?
JG- every year its something different- horror wise- fall- I always do a marathon of Friday the 13th films. I also do a lot of TV series marathons- like now- I am doing Eureka. Just did a whole Bones one, now Eureka, but I feel Buffy is coming up soon, and maybe even Tales from the Darkside perhaps!(CANNOT FORGET TWIN PEAKS!!) Seasonal titles- well- Christmas Evil , New Years Evil , the Silent Night Deadly Night series. See- I ramble- and never actually answered your question -lol ! I would say this year my Top 3 favs to watch is this- hmmm- Night Breed , My Bloody Valentine (new or old) , and hmmm , something old like a Vincent Price title!
SAJ -Besides horror and writing, you also have an eclectic taste in music.
What was the first album you ever purchased? What was the most recent?
JG- my first 3 I shall give you- all on cassette - 1.The Cars-Shake It Up . 2. Devo- Freedom of Choice and 3, Adam Ant- Friend or Foe , and okay 4- Kraftwerk - Computer World. Most recent was- the new Human League CD Credo- Love it!! I always buy on the day it comes out anything by Enigma!
SAJ -Last question....I am a huge Alice Cooper fan and this year I was fortunate enough to see him twice!
What's your opinion of his contribution to horror through his music and acting---Specifically The film Monster Dog and the song,
"He's Back! The Man Behind the Mask" done for Friday the 13th?
JG-I love the fact he is himself- in film and music-and that he can boldly quote Scripture and claim his love for God- yet still be AC - ( I have not seen Monster Dog- oh oh- what kind of fan am I ??)- and “Hes Back” - well, the KING of shock rock and Jason- what THE dynamic duo! AWESOME!!!
I want to thank Sheila for doing this interview- and for coming up with this cool idea-I have never been interviewed before and this was fun also- so maybe now- all of you who do read this site, will know a little more about Sheila and about myself! I find some folks think folks who like horror movies are all kinda out there and freaky.I found at cons that they are typically just like everyone else- Sheila is a family gal and I am a family man- I can watch Murder Set Pieces, Hostel and then watch a Disney, John Candy or even , a guilty childhood pleasure- Little House on the Prairie ( its nice to think the world was simple at one time- and that even now, we make it harder then what it really is).
Hope you all enjoyed this- I know I did and I do believe Sheila did also! Check out her shop- who knows- maybe that little something youve been looking for will be there!!!
me and my family !!!!

DEVANNY PINN INTERVIEW -QUEEN OF THE SCREAM QUEENS
Devanny Pinn Interview December 2011
IMDB -http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1922788/
TWITTER-https://twitter.com/devannypinn
http://www.wix.com/devanny1/devannysite
I WOULD LIKE TO START OFF BY SAYING THANK YOU DEVANNY FOR TAKING TIME FROM YOUR BUSY SCHEDULE TO DO THIS INTERVIEW WITH ME! I APPRECIATE IT MEGATONS~~
SO- NOW- THE MOMENT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR- ***DRUM ROLL***- (YOUR CUE TO LOOK BELOW AND READ HEHEHE)
JG - WHAT FIRST GOT YOU INTO FILM? WAS IT A MOVIE A FRIEND, SOMETHING THAT INSPIRED YOU TO DIVE INTO THE INDUSTRY?
DV -I started in theater and actually a friend brought me to an audition in Arizona for a horror film just for fun. The director thought he saw something in me and took a risk casting me in the lead role. I thank God every day for that, not only did I fall in love with film, but it started my focus on horror.
JG- HAVING THE OPPORTUNITIES TO BE IN FILMS AND ON TV, WHAT DO YOU SAY HAS BEEN THE HARDEST CHALLENGE FOR YOU?
DV -Probably being patient- everything in film and tv is a waiting game. Pre-pro, being on set, post- its all hurry up and wait. I hear about a role or a film and if I like it I get very attached. Many times in indie film, it takes a while for funding to be found or films to be completed. Im looking to get involved in a franchise or tv series where I can really stay attached to a character and story for awhile.
JG- IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN TV OR DOING FEATURE FILMS- WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO DO AND WHY?
DV -Television is over all a different style of acting. My best work is intense characters and situations in film- that being said, if a re-occurring role on Dexter or American Horror Story presented itself? I might take some time off from film.
JG - A STUDIO COMES TO YOU AND ASKS YOU TO BE THE LEAD IN A REMAKE OF A CLASSIC HORROR FILM! A FILM THAT WILL BE RESPECTFUL AND FAITHFUL TO ORIGINAL.WHICH HORROR FILM WOULD YOU WISH IT WOULD BE?
DV -Hm, well that happened once already with my cameo in Piranha 3D and its up in the air for something in pre-pro right now. The business woman in me says take the film and ask questions later, but the horror fan wants me to leave remakes alone. I feel Hollywood is
turning to remakes, especially horror remakes purely for profit and not spending any time to really create a good film. If it is someone who understands horror elements and plans to honor what fans say, I would love to be involved in the Texas Chainsaw franchise or another iconic piece of terror history!
JG- IF ACTING (AND NO OTHER FILM TYPE CAREER) WAS NO LONGER A POSSIBILITY FOR YOU- WHAT WOULD YOUR HEART DESIRE TO DO?
DV -Well I would curl up into a ball and cry...and then take my aggression out on my next favorite thing- charity work. I am a big loud fighter for the underdog. I started a small organization called Scream For A Cause Foundation, which creates benefit events and highlights charitable work being done by actors and industry professionals in the horror genre. I myself try to attend and support at least one charity event a month here in Los Angeles.
JG- DREAM ACTOR OR ACTRESS YOU WOULD LOVE TO STAR WITH?
DV -Just this year I have stood next to my idols, Jamie Lee Curtis and Sarah Michelle Gellar. I really do not get star struck at all, but it took everything in me to stand perfectly still and not shriek like a girly fanboy. Now that I know I can behave myself, I am working very hard at pursuing a few projects that would allow me to work with them.
JG - WHAT TYPE OF FILM WOULD YOU LOVE TO DO THAT IS NOT HORROR?
DV -I stay pretty close to my scary roots...but I am currently assembling a line up for the next year that involves a lot of sci-fi, thrillers, action and fantasy. American Girls, which is filming in January, is a true crime drama based on the Bega School Girl Murders. I also am in the works for projects that are on another planet, in the medieval era and at sea. More on those in the next few months!
JG -NOW- ONTO OTHER NONFILM QUESTIONS-
JG- I NABBED YOUR IPOD, POPPED IN MY EARPHONES AND VIOLA- WHAT WOULD I BE HEARING?
DV -You would be hearing me laugh at you because I do not own an IPOD. I know, I am a weirdo.
JG- IS THERE A BOOK ON YOUR NIGHTSTAND? DARE TO SHARE WHAT YOU’RE READING IF ANYTHING RIGHT NOW?
DV -I was reading “Why Men Marry Bitches” to my sister earlier this week. Scary thing is this is freaky accurate. Even stranger...I was the guy in 99% of the scenarios. I also just got a pile of true crime and murder mystery books from the library in prep of American Girls.
JG- YOU GET THE AMAZING CHANCE TO LIVE AND WORK IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY- NON ENGLISH SPEAKING, WHERE WOULD THIS ENDEAVOR TAKE YOU?
DV -Well there is talk of New Zealand and Spain for movies later next year. Who knows if either will happen. I get lost everywhere and barley can communicate to people in English so I would be totally screwed if I have to go film overseas without a babysitter haha.
JG- WILL YOU BE AT ANY CONVENTIONS IN THE NEAR FUTURE?? HORRORHOUND ,DAYS OF THE DEAD ETC?
DV -You know, I really love the convention scene and want to do more of them...but I never get offers for it! When I had like one movie out I would get offers all the time and now that Ive done 30+, no one will humor me. It is interesting. The couple I do locally, the fans are Very supportive of me and my work. I even have done a couple comic conventions to promote my comic Fangs from Comic Book Divas. Maybe I will try to make more of an effort to some this year in between filming.
JG- WHAT EXCITING THINGS ARE HAPPENING WITH YOU RIGHT NOW?
DV -Um, well I am doing a lot of pr here in Hollywood- I just made my TMZ debut! That was pretty fun. My publicists are amazing!
JG -LAST BUT NOT LEAST- ANYTHING YOU WANT TO SHARE , PIMP OUT OR BRAG ABOUT – HERES YOUR CHANCE! I WILL SHARE IT ON MY SIGHT AND ON FB!! (NEW PROJECTS, FUTURE PROJECTS ETC.)

BRIGID MACAULAY ACTRESS AND ALL AROUND AWESOME GAL!
Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1491341237
Website coming in 2012!!
First- I want to thank Brigid for taking time out to do this interview for me- I have truly enjoyed being able to converse with her on Facebook and hear about her projects and her passions in life. I am "blessed" to have her as a friend and wanna give this a big shout out to her - "HERE'S TO YOU BRIGID-THANK YOU BEYOND WORDS!!"
So with all that being said and done- lets get this ball rolling- :-)
JG -Gymnastics? Were you a gymnasts ? Why not now? Bartender-
what is your favorite drink- what is your specialty to make??
BM -I was not a gymnast myself ... though, I was a cheerleader. However,
with six years of gymnastics training, I did teach gymnastics in
Zionsville, Indiana (boys team) ... but, I do like to tumble.
Favorite drink to make ... Long Island Iced Tea (rum, gin, vodka,
triple sec, sweet and sour, and a splash of Coke) ... and, most people
around here make it wrong. A Long Island does not have tequila .. that
would be a Texas Tea!
JG- Wicca - awesome- what brought you to this belief? How do you feel
Wiccans are portrayed in today's horror genre?
BM -I have always felt a connection to all things natural. I have always
loved gardens, being outdoors, camping, etc. ... still do! I was
raised in a church-going family ... but, I never really connected with
it. Though, I do believe Christianity, like all major religions, teach
great values ... I always found myself connecting with things in
nature. Plus, I learned that most current holidays are based on
ancient pagan celebrations ... Christmas - Yule, Halloween - Samhain,
Easter - Eostre. Bringing evergreens into the home in the winter ...
pagan, jack-o-lanterns ... pagan, coloring eggs in the spring - pagan,
etc. I spent many years just kind of doing my own thing ... but, in
high school, I spent some time exploring black magic ... BIG MISTAKE.
Anything you put out there comes back on you. I quickly walked away
from that and focused on white magic ... fertility spells for couples
who cannot have kids, financial spells for people in need, etc. Now, I
am part of a very rich pagan community in southern Indiana ... I have
my "congregation". If anyone needs some good tarot done ... ;)
Paganism was originally treated as farcical ... Wizard of Oz,
Bewitched, and even Witches of Eastwick. The 1960s saw a huge
insurgence of black magic films ... particularly from Hammer (i.e.
Satanic Rites of Dracula). More recently, films have taken a more
direct approach of dealing with paganism as a subject matter (The
Craft, Five Girls). However, the focus has still been very dark.
Unfortunately, this leaves the viewing audience with a distorted view
of paganism. I have people accuse me of drinking blood and sacrificing
babies ... seriously! The foundational premise of Wicca is "Harm
None". There have, though, been some brief moments of clarity in
films. A great example is in Trick r' Treat and the discussion of the
origin of Halloween ... or ... Samhain. I would, personally, love to
see a film take on a story rich in pagan culture ... be it Wicca,
druidism, shamanism, asatru, etc. There is a lot of fascinating stuff
there ... and, it does not need to be sensationalized!
JG -What films have you been in ? I know about Psycho Street “Lewis” and
I do believe in Crestfallen short!
BM -Lethal Obsession 2010
Roses 2010
Lewis (Psycho Street) 2011
Crestfallen 2011
JG-Do you have any plans on any cons this year or next?
BM -Well ... of course ... HorrorHound Weekend ... I go to EVERY one of
those. I get to work with the celebrities, which is SO exciting. I
have worked with Harvey Stevens (Damien from the original "Omen"...
let's hope none of that ends up on youtube!!!), Slavitza Jovan (Gozer
from Ghostbusters), Cassandra Peterson (Elvira), William Atherton
(Ghostbusters, Die Hard), Denise Nickerson (Violet from the original
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Amy from Dark Shadows series),
Michael Biehn ... and have had some great times with Corey Haim (RIP),
Cory Feldman, James Duval, and Luke Goss. ( We went to Fright Night
Film Festival in 2011 ... loved it. I will probably go back in 2012.
I have been looking into other conventions, and will definitely let you
know where I will end up!
JG -Are there any projects you are or will be working on?
BM -Headless (Found) - post production ... This is a great film by Scott
Schirmer and Leya Taylor. VERY disturbing content ... lots of gore!!!
I lose my head!!!
Antibodies (Psycho Street) - pre-production ... This is the final short
in the Psycho Street anthology. This is going to be shot in my
hometown (Columbus, Ohio). Produced by the amazing Marv Blauvelt and
directed by the very talented Patrick Desmond.
Trance - pre-production
Emily - pre-production ... Trance and Emily are both micro shorts
written and directed by Jeremiah Kipp. I met Jeremiah when I did
Crestfallen. This guy is AMAZING. He also directed the upcoming The
Sadist with Tom Savini ... and, was also 1st Assistant Director on I
Sell the Dead!
Wolf Doll - pre-production ... This will be part of an upcoming
anthology ... well ... actually ... it will be a Lycanthology! Oh ...
werewolves!!! This will be shot here in Bloomington, Indiana with
MuscleWolf Productions.
Demo - pre-production ... OK ... this one is going to be beyond belief.
An old school monster movie ... reminiscent of 1950s drive in horror.
We will be shooting most of this in actual catacombs!! CANNOT WAIT!
JG -What is your favorite horror movie?
BM -Hhhmmm ... Poltergeist, Amityville Horror (the original),
JG- If you had the chance to choose the film that you wanted to always
do- NOT horror- what would you want to do? Any particular actor or
director you'd like to work with?
BM -Definitely comedy ... something like Ace Ventura, Mrs. Doubtfire,
Princess Bride ... adventure films like Neverending Story (such a
fangirl!) ... or, action films like Pulp Fiction. Director ... Quentin
Tarantino ... I would do a laundry detergent commercial if he directed
it. Actors ... Robin Williams, Morgan Freeman, Sean Connery (as long
as there was a love scene ... I don't care how old he is ...
ggrrrrrrr!), and John Travolta.
JG -What do you enjoy in your time off?
BM -You can find me often on Facebook ... and I love to chat with everyone!
But, my truest passion is music. I have sang in bands. My favorite
time was lead singer for Horny Goat Weed (which is also an herbal
supplement to increase women's libido!) We did a lot of Janis Joplin,
Stevie Nicks, Four Non Blondes, Cranberries, etc. I love the
classics!! And, I do love karaoke!! It is not unusual to find me
huddled around a couple people with guitars after hours at horror
conventions.
JG - Now for a can of worms perhaps- but how do you feel about the state
of horror movie industry (big studio or indy films)
BM -Don't get me started on Hollywood horror!! Prequels, sequels and
remakes! REALLY!? I am very blessed that I get to see a lot of indie
horror ... and there is some brilliant stuff out there!! Filmmakers
who are making films to tell a story ... not to satisfy some corporate
agenda.
