THANK YOU TAWNY FOR ALLOWING ME THIS HONOR OF AN INTERVIEW- BUSY BUSY GAL- AND YOU TOOK TIME OUT FOR ME TO DO THIS!!! :-) I DO HOPE WE CAN DO A FOLLOW UP SOMETIME!---JOHN

JG - What put you in place to do horror movies? Was there a film in your past that grabbed you that you knew that you wanted to act and horror was the path?

TAY -I've just always been a huge fan of horror films. I remember watching Freddy and not being scared. I loved the excitement of horror! The whole genre was different when I was young compared to now. I like how it is always changing yet still the same.

JG - What is your favorite horror movie (old and or new) ?

TAY -I love House of 1000 corpus's. Rob Zombie is sick and I love it. I also really love the remake of Dawn of the Dead. I have a small horror movie collection in my house. Most are unknown low budget indie horror flicks.

JG - I know you have done some modeling since I believe you were about 13- how did you get started?

TAY -Honestly I saw an ad in the Pennysaver and called them and made my own appt. I had my step dad drive me there. Haha Sadly they turn out to be a scam but I found out I liked it so that was good.

JG -If you had the opportunity to pick a cast and director to star in a movie with , who would they be?

TAY -Oh my... Talk about hard question there!! I love Rob Zombie, Quentin Tarantino, George Romero.. hmm.. I'm gonna have to get back to you on this one!!

JG - What kind of film would you love to do ,not horror in any way shape or form and why ?

TAY -I would love to do some comedy. People tell me how funny I am and besides horror that would be my next fave. I'm a complete dork goofball so it would be natural for me.

JG -What would you love to do if film was no longer an option , something else in the film industry or maybe a whole different career all together?

TAY -Actually I have wanted to pursue being a make up artist. I've always like it. I plan on going to school for it eventually. I need some down time for it and I haven't had any.

JG -Are you a reader and if so , what is your favorite book and author?

TAY -I do love reading. I read a lot of Anne Rice books and Stephen King. Lately I read all the Hunger Game books which I feel in love with.

JG - Now ,fun stuff, if I were to snag your IPOD - what music would be on it right now ???

TAY -Don't have an Ipod.. I'm a little behind in technology lol... The CD in my car is either Linkin Park or Rise Against, I don't remember lol and in my room is Buckcherry.

JG - Any guilty pleasures? Music (secret Loverboy fan) , Movie ( loved Somewhere in Time perhaps?), maybe a Harlequin Romance (you know, the kind with Fabio on the cover ? Hehehe)

TAY -My guilty pleasure are drummers.. lol I secretly stalk them... You know who you are!! Oh and I'm completely obsessed with video games, Zombies, aliens, Ancient Aliens, and Ancient Egypt.

JG -The question I am sure a lot of folks may have ,okay , I have- what was it like to be a part of the Playboy Mansion , the parties , being a go go dancer there ?

TAY -It's fun. No different than any party or club scene. Sorry to burst the Playboy bubble. There is an open bar and food buffet!! That's my fave party. I'm excited since Kandyland is coming up!!

JG - How was it doing reality tv shows , Rock of Love and Girls Next Door ???

TAY -Reality Tv is HARD!!! Long long long hrs. You are cut off from the world. A lot of people can't handle it. They make you talk to a shrink to make sure you can mentally handle it. They want you crazy but not psychotic!

JG -Now- guiltless self promotion ,spill it all- new projects- conventions , websites ? Anything- anything at all!

TAY -Bloody Wedding was just at the Newport Beach Film Festival and has been getting amazing reviews!

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bloody-Wedding-the-Movie/150617631661031

JG - What put you in place to do movies? Was there a film in your past that grabbed you that you knew that you wanted to act after viewing it ??

DF -I have always loved film. I used to watch westerns with my father when I was young. I was also very into Katherine Hepburn movies since I was about 8 years old. All the classic 1950's movie stars had a real impact on me.
I think after watching them I was hooked. Very early on I wanted to be a performer. I come from a large family and I was always singing for my dinner.

JG- What is your favorite horror movie (old and or new) ?

DF -It would be a tie for old. John Carpenter's Halloween and Wes Craven's Nightmare on Elm Street scared me and still do. I also have always loved the Exorcist and Amityville Horror. I guess you could say I like the horror from 70's and 80's best. New would absolutely be The Orphan Killer. Yeah, I know I am in it and produced it, but I really am a fan. In many ways, it is an homage to the great films Matt and I both grew up watching but it does so in it's own unique way.

JG -Now that the famous Orphan Killer has hit the banned list all over Europe- this I am sure makes folks wanna see it even more- but how do you feel about it getting that treatment?

DF -We are all really happy about it. At first I was like oh man-It's banned in Germany!! Is that good? Then I realized what an impact that will have considering films such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Cannibal Holocaust, that are all extremely famous in this genre, have been banned at one time or another. I think it shows the impact the film has. It really is not afraid to slam a machete through someone's face. I believe the German government called The Orphan Killer, "youth endangering", as if religion hasn't already taken that title. It's really the energy that "The Orphan Killer" has to make this all possible. At the end of the day, the film is awesome and there is no denying that. Banned will mean more people want to see it.

JG - If you had the opportunity to pick a cast and director to star in a movie with , who would they be?

DF -I would love to be in the cast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and work with a director like Quentin Tarantino or Stanley Kubrick if he were still alive. I am a big 1950's movie fan and would have loved to work with anyone during that time period especially Lauren Bacall, Katherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, and James Stewart.

JG -What would you love to do if film was no longer an option , something else in the film industry or maybe a whole different career all together?

DF -I was a pretty serious dancer growing up. I actually miss dancing quite a bit. My dance troupe and I used to tour the US in competitions and that was quite fun. There is a great release in dance very much like being in the moment for an actor. It is exhilarating and a feeling like none other. If it were based on reality however, I would say I would full time film produce. I love the film industry so much and it has been good to me. I really enjoy producing. I don't know if it's the being in charge thing or being able to pull it all together or both. If I could no longer act, I would definitely put my energies toward the producing. Maybe a dancing producer.

JG -Are you a reader and if so , what is your favorite book and author?

DF -Yes. I love books. I am a huge fan of Catcher in the Rye which I try to read every couple years. It's always amazing how it affects you differently at different stages of your life. A Wrinkle in Time is also a fave, everything by Ann Rice. Everything by Edgar Allen Poe. Most recently I read My Father's Daughter by Chris Welles. It was written by Orson Welles daughter and was an amazing and sad story of their life. I like books about people's lives. One book that always stuck with me Is The Story of O. It is extremely erotic and very disturbing. I have always loved it. At the other end of the spectrum, I enjoy Eckhart Tolle. I have a very large, varying collection of books I love from all different genres.

JG - Now ,fun stuff, if I were to snag your IPOD - what music would be on it right now ???

DF -Sometimes I'm in the mood for death metal and have Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and First Blood on, or will blast Guns and Roses the next minute. If I am feeling chill I'm definitely listening to Bob Marley. I am very into 70's music and have a love affair with Janis Joplin and The Doors. I am also listening to Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and Hank Williams. I am also into old school rap like NWA. There are also bands that no one has ever heard of that I dig because they are not so well known. I like a little bit of everything. I can really get into anything and have a huge inventory of music I love. Seriously the list can go on and on.

JG - Any guilty pleasures? Music, movies ???

DF -Going to the movies and eating popcorn is my big thing. I love seeing films in the theater. To me there is nothing like that experience of these giant talking heads. It's all kinds of movies too. I like to see everything so I stay in the know of my industry.

JG - I asked about how you got into horror films- but how did acting come around all together? Do any modeling ??

DF -Never any major catwalks. I showed interest in performing early on, so my Mom sent me to dance school. I won a local talent contest and marched in the town parade that year as "Little Miss Union". After that, I started getting into doing community theater which was very plentiful in New Jersey and did a ton of shows. Throughout High School, I was lucky to have an incredible performing arts program at my school that put on extremely well made productions. In my Senior Year, I played Princess Winnifred in the comedy "Once Upon A Mattress". The Paper Mill Playhouse which is the Premiere Theater in New Jersey, runs an awards program for high schools throughout New Jersey for these annual productions. I received Best Actress for my role. It was a crowning achievement and gave me the confidence to build upon to make the decision to spend my life doing this line of work. I had been studying at the PaperMill's Conservatory over the summers working with Broadway and Hollywood professionals. Ironically, I did Conservatory with and was up against my fellow student Anne Hathaway (Devil Wears Prada, Brokeback Mountain) for the Rising Star Award. Even more ironically I beat Anne playing the same role in the same show but at a different high school. I did many Off Broadway workshops and Productions and then decided to make the big move from the Big Apple to Los Angeles. Pretty quickly I was landing commercials and my dancing came in handy. At a class at The Edge in Hollywood, I met Robin Antin, who created The PussyCat Dolls which at the time was more or less, a burlesque troupe. I was invited to do their show at the The Roxy for 6 weeks. That was really cool. It was a group of 10 girls and we had celebrity guests as a part of the show that included Christina Applegate, Carmen Electra, Gwen Stefani, Charlize Theron, Brittany Murphy, and Christina Aguilera. We also had all kinds of people come and see it. Cameron Diaz, Jared Leto, and Hugh Hefner and a bevy of blondes. From there, I really focused on film, specifically indie film and the rest is history.

JG- What have you found to be the most challenging aspects of being actress and producer ?

DF -The challenges come in the way of making and working on relationships. Producing is very much about making things happen smoothly and effectively for everyone involved. Sometimes locations fall through and your equipment has been locked on their premises. True Story. Having to work these kinds of issues out while staying on schedule and budget can be draining and sometimes very stressful. They key though is creating a team of people you can work with so that when things do go wrong, which they will, you can easily move forward from the bump in the road and efficiently get to the creative vision the director had in mind to begin with. As an actor, you are always challenged with making sure you can bring the tenacity and energy to a character you are portraying so that the film can easily convey its message without you detracting or overemphasizing it. They both have their challenges but the rewards of both are second to none.

JG- It seems like every horror flick that’s has half a following- even if killer dies- ends up with a sequel or prequel- are there any TOK surprises for us that you care to spill the news on ???

DF -The Orphan Killer definitely has at least two more films that creator Matt Farnsworth has written and possibly even a fourth installment that has been talked about. I know that he has TOK 2: Bound in Blood on the burner firing up. So far there are no official partners or start dates announced, but it will be a reality at some point. The viral activity of TOK and horror fans response to the film has been nothing short of astounding. TOK is the next big horror franchise. I can't spill too many secrets for the sequel, but I will say that my character, Audrey has Orphan Killer in the bloodline....That's all for now!

JG - Last but not least--- horror tends to just be something fun to do- to scare the crap out of viewers- but every once in a while one pops out that leave s a mark- not meaning box office or banned lists , but one that hits a nerve- and in some of these cases the actors even say it hit them hard to do and was challenging personally for them, do you have any lessons learned or challenges brought stories about you and film?

DF -I had done a film called "IOWA", that was directed by and starred Matt Farnsworth, myself, Rosanna Arquette , John Savage , and Michael T. Weiss. It was a Tribeca Film Festival darling with sold out shows. It is a very powerful film because of the subject matter. It is about crystal meth in small town, rural Iowa. That film was challenging because we wanted to tell a real story and not sugar coat the fact that meth use is real and kills people and hurts all involved. Because the subject matter was so real, the actors really had to dig deep in the performances so that the drug use and failures of the relationships around them were coming across as real. With, "The Orphan Killer", my character Audrey goes through unimaginable pain and as an actress portraying that role, it was a metamorphosis for me. I had to allow myself to feel that pain every day and react to it accordingly. I changed as a person while we were filming. I think I became a little more guarded and a lot tougher. I am really lucky to have had the opportunity to play Audrey and I do not take that for granted.

JG - Now- guiltless self promotion ,spill it all- new projects- conventions , websites ? Anything- anything at all! Just tell anything- something youd like to share that I haven’t asked ! Promote anything your doing!! Any conventions your will be attending !

DF -I am on the TOK road tour attending Horror Conventions until the end of September. I am headed in The Orphan Killer Murder Machine to Crypticon Seattle, Day of the Dead Indianapolis, Flashback Weekend Chicago, HorrorFind Weekend Gettysburg and Montreal Comic Con. We have an amazing new website for the film at www.theorphankiller.com where anyone can order the film on DVD or Blu-ray, purchase the TOK cinema replica mask, order really cool t-shirts and sign up for Free Stuff and Giveaways. I am on Facebook so please come say Hi to me using Diane Foster in the search! Other than that, we are hoping to make The Orphan Killer 2: Bound by Blood. First thing is first-continuing to promote The Orphan Killer!!!

JG - Thanks again Diane- I really appreciate your time and this opportunity!!

DF -Thank you John for all these great questions and for wanting to know more about me John.

MEGAN FRANICH - 30 DAYS OF NIGHT- BUT ONLY 12 QUESTIONS - SHE ROCKS~~

http://www.imdb.me/meganfranich

. How did you develop this love for the acting ? Was there a film in your past that grabbed you? What made it so impactful for you??

The Labyrinth was the first movie I ever saw in the cinema and to this day it remains my favorite. I’m a sucker for anything magical. It drew me into a world of  fantasy creatures, where I’ve preferred to live ever since!

2. What is your favorite horror movie  (old and or new) ? Heck- any other film you love that inspires you  to keep acting ?

I love Pan’s Labyrinth, and recently did a personal appearance with Doug Jones who is now one of my favorite people on this earth. A wonderful actor and lovely person.

3. If  you were asked to be in a remake of a classic horror or any movie - - one that would be respectful to the original , the type that would make fans happy and feel good about the film, what movie would you like to do?

I’m not a fan of re-makes I have to say… Any movie I loved I want to preserve it as is! One of my favorite old vampire movies would have to be From Dusk till Dawn. I love Tarentino and Rodriuez - and Juliette Lewis!

4 . You had the chance to be in a childhood favorite of mine- Chronicles of Narnia – The Lion ,The Witch and the Wardrobe ! Were you a Narnia fan before ? I read all the books as a kid- and have them all now!

Oh yes I’ve always loved the books! It was a great honor to be part of that film.

5. What would be your dream role??

Any kind of fantasy creature role in a film of Tim Burtons.

6. Your career in entertainment came very early on- playing guitar- why the guitar ? Did you try other instruments as well ? Do you currently still play guitar ? ( “My Girl” – a wonderful song BTW)

I first started learning the piano, but found that a guitar was easier to transport! I do still play and I think I will until my hands stop working. Actually “My Girl” isn’t a song I play. Someone put that on my IMDb page I know, (wrong but I have no idea how to change it…) - the first song I learned to play was actually “My Ghost” by Kristin Hersh.

7. Are you a reader and if so , what is your favorite book and author?

Yes, an avid reader and have been my whole life. I also love graphic novels and The Sandman series by Neil Gaiman is a big part of my heart. One of my favorite authors is Haruki Murakami – Kafka on the Shore especially.

8. Now ,fun stuff, if I were to snag your IPOD - what music would be on it right now ???

Ha ha, right now I’m listening to Alela Diane – The Pirate’s Gospel. I’m still in love with Giardini Di Miro and most Italian post rock.

9. Any guilty pleasures? Music  (secret Loverboy fan) , Movie ( love Somewhere in Time perhaps?),  maybe a Harlequin Romance (you know, the kind with Fabio on the cover ? Hehehe)

Um, any kind of chocolate! I LOVE rain. I like black animals, cats, crows… Graphic novels, tea. I love anyone who will play guitar and sing to me. I could listen to songwriters all night, preferably in my living room with wine and candles.

10. If there was one thing that you could say challenged you in respect to your life being changed or challenged by your music, or acting, what would it be ? ( if you care to share!)

I think it was hard growing up in such a tiny town to come to the realization that having a creative career was actually an option. I was encouraged to develop my typing skills and phone voice… Trusting that a creative career will support you is a huge leap of faith.

11. You have been in a  major favorite of horror / vampire fans alike- 30 Days of Night- how did this opportunity arise for you ? What was it like to be able to play a vampire and to ,unbeknownst then, be in what will go down as a classic ?

I auditioned for the part in NZ through a casting director I had worked with before. Then I did a 2nd audition, and a 3rd, and a 4th! It was an amazing experience to be a part of that film and to work with such amazing people.

12. I read a little about your career- and saw you were an artists also- my impression was as in a “art” artists , I mean as in other then just film and music . What kind of art do you do ? Is there anywhere we can see some of your work?

I’m also a painter – I work with spray paint and oils. I haven’t done as much of this in LA. Back in NZ I had my own art studio which made it a lot easier to paint. I haven’t posted any of my art on facebook, but will do so now! Thanks for prompting me!
