Hate Crimes- a very relevant topic today- the crazy people out there that believe in such a fanatical way or just have pure hate in their heart. We see this practically every day. The ones that really hit a nerve are these white supremists groups , the neo-nazis . The para- military groups that believe African Americans , Jews , homosexuals , and other minorities are evil and deserve to die .The shootings we see and hear about everyday now . Its sick- and its wrong- and it is a very relevant concern even today , with all the information out there, there still are folks who believe this way and just plain ole fashion hateful folks, the kind who don’t revere life at all !

This above- is what I was challenged with while watching this film . The second film by James , his first being My Pure Joy . I will give a little bit about this film, but I want you all to give this film a chance , and watch it for yourself. It will be hitting the festival circuit this year! As I was saying about the challenge this film brought is the reality that there are these “uneducated” folks still out there and they are just as hateful and mean as ever and we CANNOT forget that they do still exist ,no matter how small or great they are!

This film starts out with a home invasion – by some neo nazi group- and their complete terrorizing of a family that I perceive as being a Jewish family- ( I cant remember if they actually state that or not) . I find this to be a thriller , action film that brings out real horror based on the subject and the horror it shows is NOT watered down! I could go on and on about it- and it will give it away about the film. It is ,and not in a bad way , a predictable for most part film, but that does NOT change the impact- the best at showing the feeble mindedness of this groups since American History X (to me personally, that is a great compliment!) This is NOT a film for faint hearted- but it is a film that speaks volumes and yet stays as a film full of entertainment as a horrorfying film! I have seen and read about comparisons to the impact that August Undergrounds films made- and still do make- and the sheer brutality of the trilogy- this is easier to view then that- but what makes it hard- is the knowing that it is VERY realistic- and has happened and will happen !

I could go on and on about this film- and the lessons to learn, it IS more then entertainment – it can be viewed as entertainment, but the message is loud and clear. Its hard for me to just watch it as a film , I don’t know if I ever can , this type of message is to real to just not notice or put on back burner in order to see just as a movie. I still stand by that it can be seen as a entertaining film , I just personally cannot ! I send kudos to the whole crew in making this an awesome film and for being so bold to make it , and to make a film for us all to see and learn from ! James is definitely up and coming and has a knack for driving a point home and I look forward to what he brings next – and I am sure it will be amazing and intense !

Well, what can I say about this? I will be “cryptic” only because I wish you all to be able to view this for yourself. Why would I wish that? Keep reading!!!

I’ve been wanting to get this review wrote for a long time- and I thank Scott, Xiomara and David for their patients in me finally getting it done! The reason I have taken so long- was because of many failed attempts at trying to do it justice. I would start writing, and when all done, would re-read it and be so frustrated because it would barely give it its due, or give it an accurate review. I’ve tried to do an audio review even hoping words would come easier, but, to no avail! I decided today, perfect words, perfect review, justice done or not, it was gonna get written today. I hope that it intrigues you enough to watch this short over and over, and maybe even be touched by it. So- here it goes-

This short film , it is beautiful , haunting , and beyond words to describe the ethereal feel of love and loss- the desperation and sadness of losing one so dear . The music, the passion you can feel in the sound and in the visual has a stunning effect- it challenges- and it cuts to the heart of it all. I am amazed at how powerful a short film can be- and this short is 4 minutes long- and it leaves an imprint on me that will never go away. One can almost feel the love and passion the lead actor (David Marancik) has in it for his lady (Xiomara Cintron). The challenge I get from it- is to have this much passion and love for all things I do, all things I claim I love , and last but not least , and the utmost important one of them all, to have that love and passion for my own lady- my wifey! The kind of love that would haunt me- that would break me down to the core if ever I lost that love to a tragedy.

Folks- I could go on and on, and this short may not hit you like it did me, and that is fine. I had my experience watching this over and over, and it is 100% mine impact. You, all of you who take this small amount of time, and watch this beautiful short, find how it impacts you. Little, or a lot, maybe none at all but enjoy. Be touched. Be glad you saw this piece of ART!

This short- I watched it a few times- and every time it reminded me of the low budget 80s slasher flicks to which I love ! A wonderful homage so to speak to the genre - like a lot of the films of the day that were just not quite Halloween , Friday the 13th , or Nightmare on Elm Street, more like the sequels of Sleepaway Camp and the like- the kind that flooded the horror slasher market at that time! The hidden fun gems that can be never seen or under appreciated.
This awesome little featurette was shown on big screen at Days of the Dead Indianapolis 2012 - sadly though- I was not able to see it ,bad John- to busy scoring interviews lol .

The killer in this short , has quite the reputation, one of a long history of killing , a resume of victims a mile long, and has terrorized the town , as the Careview Slasher. He has done so much to kill in this town he is almost celebrity anymore- to a point he has a fan!!! This fan will show him whats up, this fan will help him have a possible final kill ???? Hmmmmmm , maybe , maybe not. This is where I leave you- with a taste- and I hope a craving to check this 21 minute short out asap! Have fun with it- take a stroll down memory lane of the 80s , and be mesmerized by the coolness this little film is! Did I mention the awesome folks in it?? Do I need to drop the name KITSIE DUNCAN ??? MICHELLE SHIELDS??? Do I need to say the scenes with the Woman in Red are great (played by the wonderful Katherine Nash)- or that the young man playing the Slasher ( Beau Yotti ) is kinda psycho like in it heheheehe- well after all , he is playing a slasher!!!!

On a technical note- the sound effects , and the cinematography were great- all brought to you by Chris Jay and the rest of the crew- KUDOS to you Chris ,to everyone!!!

Geez- what else can I say- without giving something away- or repeating myself- ??? Hmmm, not much can I say! EXCEPT!!!!! This short- well- what can I say- I really enjoyed it a lot . Technically what I liked about it was that it was about 16 minutes long, and through it the viewer is able to get the beginning, the middle story , then even the back story and the conclusion - all done very well and not in a confusing manner at all- all of this in 16 minutes- it would have taken me 16 minutes just to get the first scene done - lol ! They all rocked it ! The editing , to which has won awards, was exceptional, and the directing was teaser enough to cant wait for next project. The cinematography and sound effects- NICE!!!!! I also must say- Heather and Kelsey- well, they made a cool writing debut, a kinda already done type scenario BUT with a FRESH PERSPECTIVE- and way to grab you to wanna watch and NOT be thinking or mumbling "Ive seen this all before" ! Kudos to the two of them - and to the whole crew and cast.

The story without spoiling it for you all is something like this- a young girl, once (at least what I gathered)popular, now an "outcast" and having many issues- ones that require in her mind venting in her own way, which is cutting herself with razors,and letting the pain leave her body and spirit in that manner. Heather does an incredible job via her persona , expressions etc in conveying how she is really hurting and even depressed!Kelsey does a great job at being perhaps the critical sister, or the sister rivalry type feel , the "oh get over it " and " she use to be cool" (my thoughts of how she viewed Heather in film) and Kitsie ,well Mom, she played the Mom that seemed very concerned and at times making excuses for her daughter. I could see her saying that her daughter is wierd becasue she is a teen or young adult and having issues instead of she needs to deal with her stuff. Well- as the short goes, you get a chance to see what "her stuff" is- why she is the way she is, and well- the rest- YOU MUST WATCH!!

It all kinda took me on a twist- through nook and crannies of inner turmoil while at same time- as soon as you figure it out,a sharp turn- now mind you, this is all in about 16 minutes- this is why I find it done very well,to make this whole story and to make it well and understandable in that short of time! So- I do hope you find this intriguing enough to look for it , to see it at a festival or con near you and to form your own thoughts on it- it is well worth it- and has me waiting and wanting more from these folks in way of a full length!!! So- check it out- and enjoy!

EVEN HORROR DUDES CAN BE SENTIMENTAL

Well- yes- that is very true- sentimental - yes- that is me- and I am not ashamed of it one bit. I can get teary eyed over things that touch my soul , over the good things that humanity CAN do, seeing folks be good to one another(YES , EVEN THAT HAPPENS), and I can have my moments of clarity about the people around me and in the world.Some of you all know this about me ,mainly from private in-boxes or text messages. Some of you may just now be learning this about me- the Horrordude! Well- here where I say "if you dont like a horrordude being sentimental then delete yourself now" ! Well with all that being said- I just want to again- thank so many folks for the friendships we have , and the kinship we have. Friends that have supported me- stood by me- corrected me- chewed my ass when Ive been wrong about something (with a genuine care and love)-some have come to my defense- some have stood by silently and let me fight the battles life can bring. Some of these friends are my horror friends- some hate horror- but I want to publicly thank them for everything- for being a friend (in each of their own ways)- and even had the courage at times to just say -"John I have no idea what you should do"- that takes guts ! JG -I was impressed with your resume, all the features and shorts you have done. What do you feel is the highlight thus far in your acting career (not to slight any project you have been a part of) ?

DF -I think "Disciples" Feature Film is the best production I had done...but does not mean that I will not do any other bigger projects on the near future.
I have a big role in a Vampires TV Series that will be shoot soon in FL. The name of the show is "Not Quite Dead". This is a big production with many episodes
and I am sure that will be a hit all over the world.

JG -So- you’ve been filming- or just finished filming Disciples (which sounds like an awesome film- cant wait to see it ) – and you had your first nude scene (outside of Playboy TV). How was that, how was it doing that for first time ? Was it difficult to do in knowing folks will be seeing you nude? Its kinda a hard question to ask ,and sound the way I mean it to sound! What was the experience like?

DF -To be nude on "Disciples" was a big sacrifice.The film was shoot in Los Angeles in Hollywood area where the hills are really cold during the winter time. I got nude
on the out side area...lol...trust me...was not easy...I was frosty!!!.
I didn't feel bad with my nudity,it wasn't my first time either. I been nude before
for Play Boy TV, for a five stars Art Gallery in Miami Beach and New York. I do not feel ashamed of my body!. I really sacrifice many hours a week exercising and
I spend a lot of money in organic food. I should feel proud of my genetic too...it is a gift from God that I shouldn't put inside a closet. Does not mean that I will become
a porn star, or a nude actress on every film. Most of the producers in the horror film industry offered me a nude role in their films but I pic only the top productions as nudity should be well done to look classy and sexy. "Disciples" gave me the opportunity to perform with big figures like Tony Todd, Brinke Stevens,Angus Scrimm,etc...great cast and great production!

JG- You do a lot of modeling also- the calendars etc- for those who don’t know, how did you get started in the wonderful world of modeling

DF -I started in Argentina: My first fashion show was when I was 6(six) years old, my second fashion show was when I was (16years old) I was also a promotional model and I performed for the first time dancing on the biggest TV show ( the show of Tinelli)...Some producers wanted me to become a big star but they asked me to sleep with the most powerful people in the TV industry and I didn't...I didn't want...and I never do things that I don't want. So I desisted to get involve with modeling and acting.
When I moved to Miami focus on working in my other career of Marketing and Advertising, the opportunity's of modeling and acting were knocking on my door. I really didn't expect to make it here...everything was happening like in a dream. Here men respect women...this is the best country in the world.

JG -Now to go along with the above, how did this chance to act come along for you?

DF -I was just modeling lingerie, bikini, pin up,glamor,etc.but the talent agency's sent me to some auditions for TV commercials.
My first lead role was for MTV commercial, I did other TV commercials for many other products for the Latin market. I been acting and performing on many Latin American
TV shows from Miami to the rest of the country....Latin people in an other states recognize me.
My first acting experience in English was with the Bay Watch producers.I was pic between 300 models to perform together with Miss World,
Miss Play Boy TV, Miss Puerto Rico,etc We were a total of 7(seven) models doing a pilot TV Series in Puerto Rico.
The Bay Watch producers asked me to take acting class and they gave me the motivation to get involve with the film industry in English, after that , many producers offered me roles on their films.
Like I said before...looks like a dream that I wanted to dream...lol

JG -Do you have any other endeavors aside from modeling and acting that you would like to delve into?

DF -I want to be able to produce my own films. I had experiences already in production. I love to write and I have to finish
a book to transform it in an script and after I want to produce my own film....why not!? Life
with out a big motivation is not a life...to me...

JG -WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE FILMS?? HORROR FILMS??

DF -In the 80's " The Shining" with Jack Nicholson
In the 90's "The Silence of the Lambs" with Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster
In the 21 st Century ""Basic Instinct 2" with Sharon Stone

As you see...they are all mix of thriller with horror. I love suspense...!

JG -Why do you feel that people like horror films? What is your impression there?

DF -People like Horror films because when they watch horror movies, they get out of the own reality and they experience the character reality.
Strong emotions are always wanted because the tendency of the humanity is to lose the emotions
and become a robotic human been.The horror films offer suspense, eroticism, death...

JG -Do you enjoy reading ??What kind of books do you enjoy ?What kind of music do you enjoy??

DF -I do not have too much patience for reading but I have passion for discovering about God, UFO's, Pyramids, the power of the mind, the influence of the planets...Metaphysics
is my biggest passion and I think this should be a passion for everybody...because it is a base and it is also the root of our existence.

About music? I am very picky about it...I like deep house, soulful house and jazzy house music.

JG -Now- a fun one- how do you feel with the comparisons to the beauty named Brigitte Bardot? She will always be known to be one of the most beautiful women ever, and your getting comparisons- which in turn says- your beautiful beyond words also!!

DF -Brigitte Bardot is one of the icons of beauty...she inspired Guess models, some top models in the high fashion industry. I personally love Brigitte Bardot.
I was reading about her the other day...and she also had a similar personality than me. I didn't know how similar personality we have...I feel totally like her.
I do have some similarity on the look as I am mix of French-Belgium and Spain, but the way that she was...and the way that she presented herself...very similar.
I love the comparison and I am so proud to get that often...of course people talk about similarity on the look only...
