SYNOPSIS

It isn't bad enough that Tyler Rooney is in therapy for seeing an imaginary man, or that has to deal with a passive-aggressive father and a loving mother who resides in a frightening mental institution... he now also has to deal with the high school bullies that have followed him all the way to his freshman year of college.   A group of popular students continue to target bizarre, stuttering Tyler Rooney as for their juvenile pranks, both in and outside of school.

One day, their pranks and punishment for his odd lifestyle have become too much for Tyler. Tyler has finally had enough…

Tyler, with the help of a local eccentric mambo (voodoo priestess), performs an ancient hoodoo ritual to trade his soul in exchange for vengeance.  The curse unleashes the bloodthirsty 'Mister White' that has been following him throughout the years so that he can exact a brutal revenge and punish the group for their sins.

The lore of Mister White was once believed to be a story rife with revenge of abused slaves on Benjamin White's plantation in the early nineteen hundreds.  Benjamin White, a well-respected town doctor, derived a sick sense of pleasure from the torture of others and invented new ways to exact pain on them.  One day, after the violent murder of one of the workers daughters, the slaves sought their own form of revenge.  The slaves rose up and murdered their master, hexing him to remain indebted to the weak for all of eternity.  Now he’s back… and he wants blood.

Soon Tyler’s bullies realize that Mister White is not just some silly voodoo folklore tale but that they are really marked for death at the hands of the bloodthirsty beast that legends call Mister White.

Director Statement

Mister White is a tale that delves into mental illness as well as the hoodoo and voodoo cultures and religions. It also touches on violence, bullying, and slavery while creating its own American folklore tale in the spirit of films like Pumpkinhead.

Mister White is a unique tale that plays on the idea that perhaps people we consider “mentally ill” are maybe truly, in fact, seeing what they claim to see, talking to who they really believe they are talking to. Perhaps they really are interacting with something that exists but cannot be seen by all.

It makes you question your own morals when you find yourself cheering for the murderer.  Mister White is a tale about a boy who is harassed by his classmates and his father and whose only real friends are his loving uncle Andy, a practicing voodoo priestess, and a menacing, drooling, blood-thirsty beast that legend refers to as "Mister White." Due to the violence and humiliation the group of college pranksters puts our hero, Tyler, through, we find ourselves cheering for and identifying most with the murderer in this film and hoping that he succeeds with his revenge scheme which is very unusual for a film as normally movie-goers want the murderer to be stopped.
