JG- Coming from not knowing a whole lot of your background- just seeing some of your filmography- how did all of this come around? Was there a moment that hit you deeply- and you knew acting was your thing? What film would you say is the one that inspired you the most to delve into this path?

RF- A long time ago. In a Magic show far, far away……..It was no particular film that inspired me to do this, although I have many favorites. I started my career in the entertainment industry when I was a kid doing Magic and Illusion. I developed that over time into the Gothic Illusion show that it is today. As I educated myself in the many things it takes to do that I studied theatre and acting in college to use for my stage show. So I already had some formal acting training when later, due to the persona, directors came to me with parts in Horror and Sci-Fi films. I always loved Horror and Sci-Fi and when I did my first film “The Item” I found that I really loved acting in movies and I continued from there.

JG - Explain your Gothic Illusion show? Tell me about it? Why would I want to come see you perform?

RF- My Gothic Illusion show, Fitzgerald’s Realm of Magic, is best described as dark, sticky vampire fun! I’ve taken it from Hollywood to Hong Kong, and even Lollapalooza. Not to mention more than a few Horror cons! It’s a unique style of dark, edgy, supernal and Horror inspired illusions presented with some elements of drama and a wicked sense of humor. You’ll see me eat razor blades, dissect, decapitate and cremate my lovely helpers. It’s a family show, if you‘re the Adams Family! If you don’t like ‘normal’ Magic shows you’ll love this!

JG - Now onto Gothic subculture- I was involved for quite sometime in the , I guess the 2nd wave , of the Gothic culture- ( I was first in the 2nd wave of the punk scene, DK’s , GBH , Insane etc. , always the 2nd for me lol)- was in LA and saw many cool bands- and folks- everything from the Sisters , Shadow Project , Sex Gang Children, Alien Sex Fiend, Christian Death etc.! What would we find on your IPOD right now??

RF- I truly enjoy, and draw inspiration from, the Goth/Industrial subculture! I’m attracted to its fashion and music as well as the rest of its elements. You’d find some of those same bands you mentioned in there as well as Peter Murphy, Bauhaus, Siouxie and the Banshees, Faith and the Muse, Depeche Mode, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, 69 eyes, and gratuitous amounts of David Bowie. I’ve also been listening to a lot of Florence and the Machine and Rasputina lately, and let’s not forget Voltaire! Can’t say enough good things about Voltaire!

JG- Favorite book? Movie ? Band? TV show? And why!!!!!!!

RF- Damn John, this question is a whole other interview on its own! Not to mention that it’s quite impossible to mention just one of any of these!!! Lol OK, here we go……BOOK: “Electric Angel” by Author Sue Dent Why-I’m on the cover! Lol, MOVIE: ‘Magus” by Director John Lechago. Why - I star in it. Lol BAND, I’m going ARTIST: David Bowie! (No, I’m not in his band! Lol) Why- It’s f’n BOWIE! No need to ask just be amazed! TV SHOW: Doctor Who! (No, sadly, I’m not on the show….yet!) Why- It’s the longest running Sci-Fi show in the history of television! It’s amazing! Travel throughout all of space and time with an eccentric anti-hero! Get you geek on!

JG -Now- an easy one-if you could act with ONE actor or actress- that would be your dream to do- who and why? Also for a director!

RF- Actor- Christopher Lee. It would be an honor. Actress- Rose McGowan. It would be an honor and a pleasure! Director Tim Burton. I love his work! Sign Me Up!

JG - If you had to get out the confines of Gothic and horror- and do a film that would be family friendly- what kind would you like to do?

RF- Some sort of Fantasy film like Labyrinth. It’s fun and weird! I’d love to do something like that! It would also be fun to voice an animated Fantasy film too! I’ve chatted with friends in the industry that think it would be great fun to put me in a G-rated comedy with a lot of children around me! LOL That would be interesting!

JG - Guilty pleasures?? Maybe find some Enya on your IPOD?? Maybe love Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve (which actually is a good movie- a off kilter romance).

RF- I think my guilty pleasure is my desire to set fire to Justin Bieber! Lol I’d burn him in the cremation in my show! It would be glorious! My audience would love it and I’d be doing a public service!

JG -Tell me anything- anything you want covered that I haven’t asked- other words- pimp yourself my friend!

RF- Thanks John! There’s a lot going on. Here we go….! I star as Dracula in Dracula’s Orgy of the Damned! (Yes, I love the title on this one too!) It’s coming out in a few months so look for it. Afraid of Sunlight, where I play a vampire, is hitting the festival circuit soon. It looks great! Check it out if you have a chance! The DVD to the short film Conscience is out and available on their web site. I play a Hannibal copy-cat killer in that one. Get your copy and check out the creepy fun! I’m working on a great Horror/Sci-Fi project that’s shooting in Chicago soon! I can’t say much more about that right now. Speaking of Chicago, I’m the host of Festival of Flesh Burlesque the last Thursday of every month at the Lucky Number in Chicago! If you’re in town come check out the show! I’ve just shot more in the Nosferatu photo series with photographer Jim Sorfleet of SnS Photo. You can see that on his web site and on both our Facebook pages. I’m working with Author Sue Dent to use my image in the graphic novel of “Electric Angel”. I wrote the forward to a new spooky Illusion book that will be out in 2012. Dead of Night is in transition from radio to television right now and hopefully you’ll be seeing that in the near future.

I’m also getting ready to shoot my Gothic illusion show for a DVD! I’ve been asked about this for a long while now and it looks like it’s finally going to happen. It will be more than just a video of the show. It will have a narrative Horror story that goes along with it. It’s a fusion of Horror film and Illusion show! I’m looking to shoot this later in the year.

Beyond that I’d like to say thanks to everyone for their support of my many projects! It’s always great to hear from you or see you at a con or a gig! I’ll keep bringing you dark, sticky fun!

A LITTLE SHOUT TO RON FOR HIS TIME IN DOING THIS- HE IS AN AMAZINGLY BUSY MAN AND HE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT AWESOME ABOUT GETTING THIS INTERVIEW DONE! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME ,YOUR REPLY , AND FOR ALL YOU DO MY FRIEND!

  1. Always good to read interviews from my pale, hairless Fabio!!! The Graphic Novel and three on-line comics that will proceed that, with Ron's image, will be amazing! Proof that you don't need a head full of hair to be all that!
