Well- I have to say- Ive heard about this film- from several folks- mainly from my friend Char Hardin (Charhardin.blogspot.com ) .She kept mentioning this Jacob film-how she loved it , a top film on her list for 2012- so finally ,the hint was taken! I contacted Larry about getting a screener for this very review your reading now! Well we know what happened there!! So let me get on with it---
I started watching this- and my initial first impression was "just another version of the Of Mice and Men " type story- even though was good ! Well- it kept that feel to a point- but it changed -and became an awesome story all in its own! I do NOT wanna give to much away- yet- it is something that might happen to some extent!
Its always great to know your brother or sister will always have your back- to always stand up for you- to defend you- in this case- well- it goes far past that! Jacob is able to be controlled by his little sister Sissy- she has a way to keep him in control- but when Sissy is being bothered- watch out !
***********spoiler alert************
So when tragedy strikes, and strikes hard- Sissy is in wrong place wrong time- what else can a loving brother do- Jacob lets loose the Fury that Hell wishes it had- good and bad alike suffer the consequences of a senseless tragedy. I know its not right to cheer for someone who is killing- but we are flooded in todays world with the antihero-like Dexter ,Sons of Anarchy, the Sopranos etc- and it is hard NOT to cheer Jacob when the "big bads" meet thier maker via Jacob! What we have to remember is that it is a movie- there are consequences even in that- as in killing bad folks also-Jacob goes way out of control- and it is totally understandable. What would we do ?? Would we kill for our loved ones- right or wrong - would we fight for thier very lives??? We all like to hope so- and hope someone would do that for us also.
Well you get the gist of the film- Jacob goes on rampage- and it gets gorey , brutal , and absolute crazy! So how did the actors do ? Well- I will say this- I enjoyed the roles of everyone- I didnt realize that Larry Carrell had a duel role- I didnt know he was even in it til the cast and credits rolled- Roxy Vandiver, small part, but she rocked it as her usual way of doing things! I have to give kudos to the whole cast - the crew- everyone- they all did amazing!
I have to give some time to the young lady who played Sissy (Grace Powell)- she was excellent-this young gal was excellent- one could see how Jacob would defend her to the death, she is adorable, smart , sweet , and I would say a star in the making! So- Grace- keep rocking- follow your heart- and if your heart takes you into this crazy world of acting- you will shine and so many people will be touched by your abilities as a young starlet!
I also must have to say Dylan Horne was excellent in his role of Jacob- Ive seen films where there were very little speaking- and it left you wonderful why you wasted the time watching it, Dylan had the expressions , the dare I say "charisma" to make the viewer feel his anger when someone was mean or negative in anyway about Sissy. I was amazed at Dylans ability to convey so much pain, anger, despair, violence in just his facial expressions , and his mannerisms.
I know there were so many amazing jobs done here- Parrish was excellent- Larry rocked- I could go on and on- so I decided only to highlight the two main characters- Sissy and Jacob- my suggestion- see for yourself! Find a copy- go to a theater or a con- and see this film- I have to agree with the folks before me- that saw it and told me about it - I agree - I love it- and I do think you would also! So- amidst so many awesome films and tv on- and everyone in a hurry-when you find this film- make the time to watch it- it is well worth the time. Jacob says so~~~
